General update - swing dancing, Everland, TOPIK, and the Rock Tigers

General update:

I had ten days' vacation, which was very nice, although it flew by. I'm working several hours a day on my latest project, plus I have Korean class, plus the whole boyfriend thing takes some time.

But speaking of that (since it's my favourite subject and all), it's going incredibly well. We're in love and working hard on making everyone around us either coo or throw up, depending on their disposition, and I have special Chris smiles and all that; a couple of days ago I was walking up a staircase to meet him knowing he was at the top already, and I couldn't help smiling, as hard as I tried to suppress it. I can't even think about him without my lips curving upward ever so slightly.

Really, it's sickening.

We went to Everland over Seolnal and I know we did some other stuff as well, but I can't really remember it off the top of my head. Everland was freezing cold but very empty and there was plenty to enjoy - the few rides that were open, the Small World ripoff featuring racist stereotypes from countries around the world, the Konglish, the arcades... We did spend a fair bit of time at home with him working on his projects and me working on mine, and that was pretty nice, if less productive than working alone.

Oh yeah, and we went swing dancing one night because he's really good at it and I wanted to watch him. We found a big ballroom-type place full of very young Koreans. It honestly felt like going back in time about 80 years. Chris tried to teach me, but I suck at any kind of dancing and it was more fun to watch him dance with other people.

Later on that weekend we did some exploring and failed to find the abandoned area for which we were searching, but did find a rather old-looking industrial district which was closed up for the holidays. It was fun to just walk around and look at all the old signs and old machines sitting outside the shops and generally feel like I'd gone back in time again, this time to the sixties or seventies.

Yesterday I took the TOPIK, a Korean proficiency test for which I've been preparing for something like three years now. I only hope I got the grade I wanted. After that I can relax a bit with the studies and hopefully get back to some of my other languages. The project still stands and I kind of want to finish it as soon as possible or at least get the maximum amount possible finished before I get bored, but there's no real deadline with it.

This weekend we saw the Rock Tigers play on Saturday night and they were very, very good - good music, great show, interesting costumes (Koreans with greaser haircuts!), the whole works. Chris and I spent our time being disgusting, at least when he wasn't off waving his camera (which we have dubbed his "two-foot dick") around.

Now I'm back at work, but only teaching in the mornings, for two and a half weeks, and then I have more vacation. Life is SO rough...
